Catherine & Staff,
We wanted to take a few moments to send you and your staff at Tony's Auto our compliments and our gratitude for our pleasant stay. Yes, you can have a pleasant stay at an auto repair shop. Each one of you is so skilled and have "service" running through your veins. You made us welcome and comfortable.
To refresh your memory, our nightmare started when our GMC pickup pulling a 28 foot 5th wheel stopped (engine) on an overpass there in Phoenix. All power lost in an instant. Luckily we were able to coast down the over ramp and get to a pull out area out of harms way.
We called AAA and they recommended about 3 repair shops within a reasonable tow distance and ordered a tow truck for us. While we waited for the tow truck, we called each repair shop (this was a Sunday) and listened to their answering machines. We wanted some assurance that there would be parking available to be dropped off in. Tony's was the only answering machine that had the words "We have a night drop off box...". That made us decide to be towed to your repair shop. Upon arriving, we had to be dropped off, literally, from one driveway entrance to the other driveway exit blocking all your bays. There was nothing else AAA could do for us at that moment as the truck was completely dead.
The next morning, when you knocked on our door, we gave you our story. You immediately made arrangements for us with a local resident to park our 5th wheel in front of their house. We called AAA and they came and towed our truck and 5th wheel, dropped us off, and towed our truck back to your shop.
Then, the work began. You had nothing to work with except us saying it made a funny noise and lost all power. Without being able to turn the engine over, you had to run several tests to start narrowing down our problem. At one point, you suspected we might have to have a new engine. You kept us informed moment-by-moment of what you were doing to locate our problem. As you eliminated each, you would call and reassure us as each we eliminated kept making it look better and better that a new engine would not be needed.
You had consulted with several other auto repair shops and they indicated they would replace the engine; yet you and your staff wanted to rule that out 100% before you went with what seemed to be the consensus.
While we stayed in our 5th wheel, approximately 4 days, and you worked on our truck, you were so gracious as to give us suggestions on eating places, a beautiful hike we could do and furnished us water. These personal touches made our stay more pleasant while we waited for what could be a disastrous outcome - we might need a new engine.
As it turned out, we didn't; your shop went through our truck with a fine-tooth comb and located every single problem we had and as you found each, we said "we trust your shop, we're grateful to be here, fix everything that needs fixing." My husband, an engineer, kept stopping by and your technician would show him what you were finding and my husband would authorize the go-ahead on each repair.
As you remember, our invoice was a hefty one and, may we say, "we didn't care." Because of your steadfastness in not giving in to what it appeared to be and putting in the effort to disassemble the engine, you located the main problem, i.e., the timing had jumped and gear teeth broke. Because of your efforts, you saved us a minimum of $5,000-$7,000. In addition, you found several potential safety hazards, like our tire tread, front-end suspension where all bearings had deteriorated, etc., that had not been brought to our attention by our local repair shop which we had taken it to for an inspection and oil change just prior leaving on this trip.
As a final guarantee that our truck was in good repair, you and then one of your technicians took it for a drive and really gave it a test run. We felt confident when we drove away from your shop that our truck was in excellent condition - probably 'better than new' .... We noticed how easily and smoothly it pulled the 5th wheel - didn't even know it was back there.
We felt blessed during our whole experience with Tony's Auto and we thanked God for delivering us safely and to a shop that had such integrity, skillful technicians and office staff. — R. & B.L.

I want to thank you for the great service you have given me and my now deceased husband over the years. As I am now on a fixed income every dollar counts. Last month I thought it was time for an oil change and Catherine told me it was too soon, I had not driven enough miles and to bring it back in January. Now that's honesty you do not find today. I just wanted you to know I appreciate all of you so much at Tony's. I highly recommend you to my friends. — K.D.

Thanks as alway for the quality work at Tony's, but thank you most of all for the flexibility and willingness to turn an unfortunate and difficult situation into a more positive experience. It is precisely that kind of customer service that will keep Tonys Auto at the top of its field. — K.Z.

No words are adequate to express my gratitude for your care last week. I would not be back on the road this soon and so smoothly if you had not taken the time out of your busy schedule to help me after my car accident. May God repay your kindness with special blessings. I thank you from my heart. — C.E.

I wanted to thank you for the excellent service I was given when I brought my truck in for repairs. I so appreciate your honesty and being so “up front” about repairs my truck required. It is nice to be given options when quoting necessary service. I don’t know anyone else that thinks so much about their customers circumstances and what they can afford. — T.S.
